Forrest Hayes,aged 51 was a Google executive and married father of five living in the Silicon Valley. According to the L.A. Times he had experience with Apple and Sun Microsystems, and had completed projects in Google Glass and the Google X innovation lab. A highly thought of professional with years of experience in the field, he was regarded highly by his peers.
Except for one thing: he had a sexual relationship with a woman who was not his wife of 17 years named Alix Tichelman.
Alix and Forrest met through a website called Seeking Arrangement, that hooks up consenting adults for....well whatever. I'm not going down that road, so save it. If you are reading my blog/board you know I am not rolling that. Anyway, they had met more than once and had been on his yacht which was docked on the bay in Santa Cruz, California, named "Escape". Sadly, from what I saw in the 48 Hours mystery documentary, Forrest had retained Alix for companionship on more than one occasion, without his wife's knowledge. It is unfortunate that he had to go outside his marraige for that purpose, and I don't wish to speak ill of the deceased, he isn't here to defend himself. But it is a fact that he did this, and did it more than once. And the person he chose to do it with was Alix.
Alix Tichelman is unique looking. Dark haired, green eyed with tattooed arms and small piercings, I suspect she turned heads wherever she went. Big ink like that will get noticed anywhere and I know that from first hand experience. But she was a member on the website and had clients that she booked through them. In fact, the Santa Cruz police department found her to charge her with the death of Forrest by posing as a client through the website. But we'll get to that in a minute. Alix had several meetings with Forrest on his yacht, and had texted him with the intention of him paying her for companionship [yes, that means sex] On the night of November 22,2013 Forrest did not come home. His wife Denise became concerned and asked the captain that they had working for them to go and check the boat to see if he was there. I find it interesting that she didn't go herself to see if he was there or had been there. Why wouldn't she drive to the marina where the boat was moored and see if his car was parked there? Kinda doesn't make sense to me. Did she think she might see something she didn't want to see? The captain went to the boat and found Forrest's lifeless body there.
He was alone and the cause of death indicated he had died from a fatal injection of heroin. As he was not known to be a heroin user and there was a security system in the interior of the yacht, the police pulled the video, which showed he and Alix, using IV drugs and drinking wine, which there were two glasses found in the boat's interior. They started gunning for her immediately and they had something else that they would use against her: the death of her boyfriend, Dean Riopelle, who had overdosed on painkillers and alcohol on September 24,2013. Conflicting reports say he died of a heart attack and that he hated drugs and would never touch them. So what the hell is going on here? Riopelle dies in September and Forrest dies in November? Both of a drug overdose.....seriously? Either this chick is a natural born killer or this is some highly bizarre coincidence.
So the cops go after her, armed with the video of her and Forrest shooting up, and him going into some kind of medical duress because when you shoot up too much dope, well, that's what happens, duh. Allegedly, she steps over his dying body, finishes her wine gets her stuff together and peaces out. Leaves him there to die. They set her up posing as a client through the website and arrange to pay her $1000 for an encounter and on July 4,they catch her and take her into custody for the death of Forrest Hayes. Only after all this is underway do they decide to re-open the death of Dean Riopelle and see if they can dig up some shady sh*t and blame that on her too.
Now, I know what you are thinking. She OD'd that man and just up and left him there? You don't know that and neither do I! I wasn't there and neither were you! My issue with this whole thing is I think they are giving her a raw deal because she's all inked up and goth looking and anyone who's a registered member or from back in the day, or has seen when I have an avatar of myself knows I'm all inked up with piercings. I don't like that! Stop with the judgemental nonsense and take this case for what it is and prosecute it fairly. If we are all judged by our looks, then what is to stop people who don't look like criminals to get away with all manner of things? I'm not saying Alix is innocent of anything. Clearly she is not. She did heroin with Forrest and is an admitted prostitute. Hey y'all, that's still illegal. But what I'm not down with is what is being called "slut shaming" which is basically looking at a woman who doesn't fit the standard stereotype and then name calling and villifying that person. Is she guilty of murder? I don't know. Is she a slut? That's not my call to make. Noone is calling out Forrest for going to a prostitute and cheating on his wife now, are they? Noone is calling him out for using junk now, are they? Is that because he is dead or is that because he was a Google top dog with serious cheddar and a lovely home, family, and achieveing what we believe is the American dream?
Alix accepted a plea deal today sentencing her to 6 years for the death of Forrest Hayes. She will get credit for time served.
I'm not sure why MSN decided to revisit this case and give it an update because there isn't much that we didn't already cover here [or anywhere else for that matter] but I thought I'd post it anyway. Alix has a date for parole and there is one thing I didn't know that I thought was really interesting: according to this new piece, the family of Forrest Hayes didn't want Alix to be prosecuted.
I'm going to take a wild guess and say that was because they didn't want to deal with the publicity of a high profile trial and the media attention it would bring. The family also was adverse to the video from the boat being made public and I can't say that I blame them. What a nightmare that would be.
Alix Tichelman is scheduled to be released in June 2017. She will be 29 years old. The death investigation of Dean Riopelle is still open.
Alix Tichelman, the woman found guilty of the death of Google executive Forrest Hayes in November 2013 has been deported to Canada where she holds dual citizenship with the US.
Officials said that because of her criminal activity she was to be deported and felony convictions to be upheld in America.
Now...I didn't know she had dual citizenship. I don't have any sympathy for her by at the same time, if someone wants to do drugs, you can't tell them no. They are going to do it any way!
