New Film Biopic On Richard "The Night Stalker" Rameriz In Production

This is going to make some people mad. Not me, but I can hear it now......

Director Megan Griffiths [best known for her work on "Eden" and "The Off Hours"] is directing a new biopic based on Richard Ramirez, also known as The Night Stalker. Ramirez terrorized the California folks [mostly Los Angeles area but is originally from El Paso] during the 1980's as a self styled Satanist, raping, killing, stealing and leaving pentagrams all over his crime scenes so in case all those dead bodies and blood weren't enough to freak people out, well, devil worship would be a good way to throw some fuel on that fire. I'm pretty sure if I saw a crime scene with blood splattered satanic trappings, I'd freak out too. Ramirez also had a fondness for heavy metal [most notably AC/DC] and of course that always scares people who live quiet lives. Let's face it: he was scary! I mean....I'm not scared of that kind of thing but....screw it. You guys know what I mean. I'm getting sidetracked here.

Lou Diamond Phillips [the guy who played Ritchie Valens in La Bamba] is tapped to play our villian, and I think it's a great choice. He actually kind of looks like the guy who died in prison in 2013 and I think he'll make a great serial killer. I know someone is going to read this and give me an email full of moral indignation about this being the glorification of a madman, blah blah blah. C'MON! Let us not digress to that. I would hope, and think this film would serve to educate as to why Rameriz became what I believe is the original natural born killer. I profiled him for our magazine, which I will link for you, with the warning NSFW and NOT DISNEYLAND! Don't step up to bat with us if you don't have the balls. It's called Serial Killer Magazine for a reason, y'all. A couple of other links for your edification and clarification. Enjoy.

From NBC News: The new biopic about serial killer Richard Ramerez is set to premiere in Santa Ana,California, the area of Southerna California where many of his crimes took place. The killer, rapist and thief, who terrorized the area with his brand of Satanistic heavy metal crimes from April 1984 to August 1985 is the place where filmmakers say people remember his crimes the most.

The story line describes a dying Ramerez trying to be convinced into confessing to a crime to keep another inmate from death row. Personally, I think it would make a much better movie to go into detail about how he grew into what he came to be: the notorious serial killer who scared the holy hell out of Southern California....but yeah.

Here's your link. I have a feeling people are going to get all humpty about this.

Saturday morning...it's a great time to watch a serial killer movie.  biggrin

This one is a great choice. Lou Diamond Phillips stars as Richard Rameriz in "The Night Stalker" and does a great job terrorizing the hell out of a lawyer who visits him in prison, at first in the guise of an interested council, but later admits to trying to get him to admit to the killings of a young mother and her son at a motel in El Paso where he worked before he moved to California and went totally villain.

The plot steers away a little and I don't want to give a spoiler alert but it kind of does the "Silence Of The Lambs" thing where they go quid pro quo and the lawyer reveals herself to him as he gives her the answers to her questions. They go into his background a little, not as much as I would have wished and not completely historically accurate, which always drives me nuts, but for the most part, a solid film. I also wish it would have had better music because that dude was heavy into metal but the rights to that music was probably stupid expensive.

Available for streaming on YouTube and Hulu. Hit this one up, it's awesome.

Enjoy your weekend,y'all
