Should Paramedics have done more to try to save a dying Laurie Show

Hello,

From what I understand, Laurie Show's mother, Hazel, came home and find her daughter lying in a pool of blood, bleeding to death from cut throat. She was still conscious at this time and named her killer. When paramedics arrived, they stated they found Laurie "barely alive" with obvious signs of hemorrhagic shock. One paramedic stated "The women on the floor had moved very slightly. Paramedics arrived and hooked up the heart monitor and determined she was barely alive....... I prepared to start CPR she flat lined. Her injuries were so severe that it would have been inhumane as well as impossible to try to save her"

"Inhumane" to try to save a 6 year old???? Yes the survival rate in traumatic cardiac arrest is very poor, but if anyone deserves a chance, a 16 year old who has her whole life ahead of her does

My opinion, the EMTs should have placed her int he ambulance and took off for the ER, and attempted CPR, intubation, administation of IVFs on route. I feel that the minimal chance she had of survival was denied my these paramedics who made no attempt at try to revive her

Hello Robi, it's been a long time. How nice to see you.

I remember part of the contention was that Laurie's throat had been slashed to the point of her ability to say "Michelle did it" and EMT's pronounced her DOA.

She had literally bled out from those wounds. I don't believe they could have done more for her but I'd love to give this some attention.

Thanks for writing!

So, I looked up some details from Laurie Show's autopsy which was performed by Enrique Pinades, the pathologist in Lancaster county:

Lets look at Laurie's wounds:

*6 bruises to the head

*3 cuts to the back, one puncturing the lung

*1 cut on the thigh

*14 cuts to her left hand which were defensive wounds, as well as many cuts to her palms

*a slashing throat wound that was the result of one stroke, one to the center of the neck measured from side to side 5 inches and 2 inches from the upper to lower end. 2 fatal wounds to the neck from which she bled out.

There's no doubt in my mind she could not have been saved. Sadly she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tomorrow we'll have updates on the other people involved in this case.

The participants in the murder of Laurie Show have been incarcerated since 1991, with the exception of Lambert's 10 month stint of freedom when her case was being heard by a judge. She wrote a new book last year  [sorry we don't promote fairy tales here] so....yeah. She's still in prison and frankly this topic has been so contentious I hate seeing her name. However! If this picks up traffic and other people want to discuss it, knock yourselves out.

Lawrence Yunkin served 12 years of a 10-20 year sentence and was paroled in September of 2004.

Tabitha Buck may be eligible for parole under the new state guidelines stating juviniles can not be sentenced without parole options, deeming it cruel and unusual punishment. She can apply in 3 years.
