have been looking for something on this so called credit company. Three years ago my husband had a heart attack and triple by pass surgery, he was off work so I have two acct with ccb and some other accounts that needed to be consolitated, I enrolled in a credit consolidation program and they receive a check every month without fail never late.

They harassed me phoned me at work I had to send a certified letter to this company etc. They refuse to work with this company, I want to pay this off but they keep adding late charges and over limit fees each month. they refuse to take these charges off. How can I pay this off it they keep added charges on.

Every other company I have dealt with, is working with us on this but not cross country. please advise as to what I can do in this situation.

Thank you

I believe cross country bank is involved in unethical lending practices with predatory lending as well as a new $6.95 transaction fee when making a payment over the internet. On a few occasions I have mailed a paper bill within one or two days of receiving the bill and it takes in excess of two weeks for them to receive it and process it which has resulted in $30-$35 late fees.

CCB has been reporting incorrect information on my credit reports for the past three years. I have been disputing this inaccurate reporting through the three major credit reporting agencies, to no avail. CCB has sold the alleged account to collection agencies. I have never opened an account with this bank. I sent a letter requesting verification of this debt and they have ignored all requests. The information they are reporting is damaging my credit and they refuse to delete this erroneous information. I have called their customer service and they employees have all be rude, argumentative and uncooperative. The worst thing about this whole ordeal is being associated with a credit card company whose whole mission is to destroy your credit life!!!

Like all of the complaints that I've read so far...my daughter has also been slammed by Cross Country Bank. She applied for a card to "establish credit" two years ago and basically her credit is now ruined. They started out promising a larger credit line, it ended up at about $200. She used the card once or twice and made her payment. The next statement she was assessed a late fee because they had changed her due date. She was also assessed a separate fee for being over her credit limit because of the annual fee and the late fee that they charged put her over her limit. She asked to change her due date back and was told that she could only change once a year. As she continued to make payments the charges started snowballing. Finally they started harassing her at work and when her boss overheard the situation asked what was going on. She regaled him with the entire story and he said you have to pay off that credit card and close the account...this is a scam. Of course by this time she didn't have enough money to pay it entirely...so her boss loaned her the money to pay off the balance. She called Cross Country and asked what the pay off was, took down the name of the person, marked paid in full in her check, cut up the card and sent it with the payment and a letter. After all of this they still said that there was a late fee due and that she had to pay it. They kept harassing her until she moved and ended up with a different phone number. Now as she's trying to get a job after being unemployed for a year...she was tentatively hired but now may be denied employment with a company because in checking her credit found it was listed as poor. When we checked we found that Country Wide Bank shows failure to pay and the amount is $691. There's a suit that's been filed by the Attorney General of Texas just recently and I'd appreciate it if anyone knows of any others or one in Oregon especially as that's where we are located. We're just looking for ammunition to give to her potential employer to verify that she's not a credit risk because of the antics of Cross Country Bank. I hate their guts.

In March of 2001 I had a credit card account with Cross Country that had been closed and placed into an internal collection status, I got a new job which increased my income so I called to set up a payment plan to pay a debt of less than $900.00. The representative was actually very friendly and helpful, she selected a payment date that would stop late payment fees and assured me since the account was closed overlimit fees would not longer apply, she said that the interest would probably still be assessed until the debt was paid.  I set up payment of 100.00 per month , a total of 11 checks were proceesed totaling $1065.00 which should have covered both the balance and interest on the balance. A few weeks after the last payment processed I got a letter demanding 782.00! When I called I was advised that they continued to assess late fees (because even though my checks were dated and electronically debited they were not actually posted to the account for several days) and overlimit fees, when I protested the gentleman referred me to their legal department from there ensued a year long battle with collection agencies and attorneys representing Cross Country. Finally in March of 2003 I was threatened with legal action! I sent the attorney every letter I had ever written and supporting documents proving my payments, they replied once advising Cross Country was demanding payment for $589.00 and I responded then did not hear from them again. I finally called the attorney and was advised the matter had been dropped. I felt vindicated and relieved. Now a year later I got another letter from another collection agency demanding $1135.00, so I am once again making copies and preparing another letter. I am currently researching to see if there is a class action suit in my state (Florida) that I can join to not only stop this harrassement but recieve compensation for my time in trying to resolve this issue.

crosscountry bank charged me an overlimit fee  when they added on my annual fee because it went over my credit limit.they cannot charge you a overlimit fee when adding a annnual fee.they refunded my overlimit fee right back.alot of people would just pay it. if you paid an overlimit fee because of your annual fee being added yoou are entitled to get it back.they dont want you to know but i knew and got my money back.

My cross country account was charged off in 1999.  It shows as charged off on my credit history reports through all three agencies.  I settled with these people and they wrote off the remainder at that time.  Today, after 5 years, I receive a telephone call at work no less from one of their collectors stating that I owe them money + interest.  They did not attempt to reach me at home, nor are they owed anything.

Oh man, do I have issues with Cross Country Bank.  I was suckered into a credit card with them, poor judgement on my part, and was laid off and had to keep the roof over my head first.  So I missed my first payment.  Well, they are acting like I owe a million dollars, instead of 55 dollars.  They call and harass my MOTHER, insisting I provided that phone number-LIE.  They told ME I provided my mother's phone number, and I had a 10 minute argument just on THAT lie.  I gave them my private cell phone 3 times now, explicitly telling them to call no other phone but that one.  I'm waiting in pain for them to dig up my new work phone.  They told me I would get late fees if I didn't give them my checking account number for an electronic check transaction.  I said I didn't have a checking account, so they proceeded to harangue me about getting my parents to give me theirs.  When I told them they no way, they then told me if I didn't agree to do some electronic money wiring thing they would fine me, I said "You can't tell me how I have to pay you, as long as I make a payment.", the jerk on the other end said, "Oh yes we can".  So I started throwing out,"Have you heard about the Fair Debt Collection Act, because I think you're violating it in a BIG way", he got even cockier about the situation.  I mailed a payment in the next couple of days, over a holiday weekend, and they started calling because they hadn't received it in their idea of a normal time frame.  Now they STILL call my parent's number, but NOW they pretend theyre a friend.  They pull a "Hey, is J there?" casual routine.  So long painful story short, I'm not mailing a payment til they stop calling.  I'm sending a registered drop dead letter, but what else can I do?  Haven't they crossed some major legal lines here?  I'll gladly pay my debt and burn the card, but not with these tactics!  I'll be paying shady late fees til I'm 80. Thanks for the venting!

RE: Cross Country Bank:UPDATE

I believe if you do a search, maybe at the Federal Reserve or FDIC the Attorney Generals of several states have filed suits against Cross Country Bank.  You might also want to check at creditsuit.org.
