The case of Laci Peterson

Hi all!
I would like to get some feedback for anyone who might care to participate. What do you all think of Scott Peterson? Do you believe he killed Laci or had someone else involved?
I would also like to ask if this is a case you would like to see on Justice Junction. What do you think?

I don't know but it happens to me too when I use the backspace key when looking at my finished post.

As far as Laci and Scott, that story is one of much interest to me. I've been ill and have watched a lot of the coverage that I might not normally have seen. I was suprised he is a  tv movie of the week so fast. Just like a quote from my favorite film..."The media controlls millions of minds with it buying and selling of fear,"

I'm curious to see if he's gets nailed for this. Based on circumstantial evidence it doesn't look good for him. I'll have my eye on it it if you will!

I was joking sweetie!

My gosh, things have come to a pretty pass when we are all on each other's case like this. I was out of town and got back to find this whole board up in arms. I don't know what y'all did while I was gone but next time I'm taking my laptop! Please,PLEASE,do not take offense at my black humor. As Shakespear once said,"I would not for the wealth of all this town do him disparagement in my home. Therefore be patent. Take no note of him."

Take no note of me sweetie.I was just kidding.

It is so hard to look at Scott and think that:

A:He killed his beautiful pregnant wife

B:He was having an affair when he had such a lovely wife and a son on the way

C:He told his wife he was having an affair and she had made her peace with it and it was okay with her

I wish they were allowing cameras in the court for his trial so it could be covered by Court TV. I know the world would be watching.

What do you all think of Amber Frey? Do you consider her to be a victim of Scott or just someone unlucky enough to be caught in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Scott Peterson

Laci was in too much pain to get out of bed just 4 days before disappearing, but she was "walking the dog" that day. Scott hand-made 6 anchors, of which 1 was recovered. Hmm. Scott repeatedly showed up during searches and caused tracking dogs to lose the direction of Laci's scent while following it. Why? Scott's GF was told "I don't want any children," "I'm going to get a vasectomy," and "I'm not married," all while Laci was 7 mo pregnant. The Peterson home smelled like bleach the day of Laci's disappearance. Scott was "fishing" (with the wrong bait) and "golfing" -at the same time - that same day. (sounds like another alibi I've heard)

...and the evidence is still in the 1st stages of coming in...

Well, I think even that small bit I listed says quite enough.

Anna,

Great to see you back again-I was getting worried, not that I do that easily or anything :) .I think that it would be a great idea for you to do a piece on Scott Peterson ... you've never let me down before and I have absolutly no doubt that it would be a wonderfully written article, so PLEASE get started on when you're feeling better!

Sorry I have been out of  touch, just kind of depressed lately. I did finally finish up my finals for Police Operations and Criminal Procedures and got an A+ in both classes. I can now devote my time to the story of Janie Ward. If you want to know more, you'll have to go the thread!

Great to see you Anna and I sure have missed you buddy!

Hey Jill!

I'm on the case now. I'm not sure what I believe with regards to Scott so this would be a perfect story to take up because I haven't formed a final opinion. So I'm on it!

Please take care of yourself......I know you have so much going on but you need to take a little time for yourself. I was serious when I offered you a mini vacation out here. You can bring the two little ones and stay a week or even just a long weekend. You need it girlfriend!

Anyhoo,I'm quite fascinated with this story so I'm on the case and we'll see what happens!

NEWS FLASH!!

Juror #5 has been excused from the trial of Scott Peterson for "supposedly" making an innapropriate comment to the defendant.I just heard this on Court TV. He is going to be replaced tomorrow with an alternate from what I understand.

More news to follow,I'm sure but so far that's all I've heard. Anyone else know what happened or have more info??????

Anna,

Here's the article I found on CNN:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/06/23/peterson.trial/index.html

Juror removed from Peterson trial
No evidence so far to prove accused husband's guilt, man says
Wednesday, June 23, 2004 Posted: 4:12 PM EDT (2012 GMT)

var clickExpire = "-1";

REDWOOD CITY, California (CNN) -- The judge in the Scott Peterson murder trial removed one of the jurors Wednesday, and the judge in the case denied a defense motion for a mistrial.

The juror was identified as the man who was seen making comments last week to the brother of Laci Peterson, the slain wife of defendant Scott Peterson.

The juror, Justin Falconer, will be replaced by an alternate juror.

Falconer was identified as making a brief comment to Brent Rocha, the brother of Laci Peterson, last week at the courthouse.

After his removal, Falconer, 28, told reporters that "a lot of things got blown out of proportion," and he said being a juror was "a lot of pressure."

Outside of court, Falconer said he tried to keep an open mind about Peterson's guilt or innocence. Based on what he had heard so far, he said, "There's no way I would even believe he was guilty."

However, he added, "We haven't heard the defense, we haven't heard the whole prosecution."

Judge Alfred A. Delucchi did not specify why he dismissed Falconer, but Falconer told reporters Delucchi suggested he was removed because he had become a "distraction."

According to an Associated Press report, Falconer admitted discussing with his girlfriend the media coverage of his exchange with Laci Peterson's brother, Brent Rocha, according to a transcript of a closed-door meeting with Delucchi. The judge did not specify why he dismissed the juror.

"You're not to listen to, watch or read any media reports of this trial," Delucchi admonished the panel before selecting an alternate to take the juror's place, according to the AP report.

Peterson's lawyer, Mark Geragos, demanded a mistrial, saying media coverage has tainted the case.

"I've got a client who is on trial for his life," he said in an AP report. "I think it's an outrage what is going on in this case."

Earlier Wednesday, the judge met with jurors in his chambers to discuss possible misconduct.

Prosecutors allege that Scott Peterson, 31, murdered his pregnant wife, Laci, in their Modesto home on or around December 24, 2002, then used the story of a fishing trip as a cover-up to hide that he had dumped her body into San Francisco Bay.

The defense argues that investigators focused on Peterson too quickly to the detriment of other leads. They have asserted that someone else abducted Laci Peterson while she walked the couple's dog.

Laci Peterson's body and that of the fetus washed up separately on the shores of the bay, just miles from where her husband told police he had been fishing that day.

That doesn't look too good for a conviction. This specific juror said that "Based on what he had heard so far, he said, "There's no way I would even believe he was guilty." .... so what the heck is the prosecution doing wrong to be lossing jurors? They had a moutain of circumstantial evidence and quite a bit of physical evidence ... what the heck is going on?

Jill,

What the heck is going on out there in California with all this???  There has been so much publicity I don't think he can get a fair trial. I just really don't think it's possible. And if the juror that just got canned is any indication,I'm starting to wonder if he's gonna walk. It doesn't look good at all.

Anna,

It makes no sense but it sounds like another OJ thing going on. There is enough proof to convict the man, so why aren't the jurors seeing it? Maybe he was the exception tot he rule, I certainly hope so for Laci and little Connors sake, may they rest in peace.

I am hoping this guy was an exception, not the rule. He had an excuse for EVERYTHING that was suspicious. My son is that way and he is one who will blame any one for anything and not take responsibility for what he does. This juror reminded me of that kind of behavior.

And the comment about pregnant woman was totally wrong! I dont mean woman are not hormonal, but to say what he said was wrong. He reminds me of a sexist pig.... Am I allowed to say that? Sorry if I am not!

I think that he's trying to get his 15 minutes now that he's kicked off the jury. I wouldn't trust him with my last nickel. He is just shady and I hope it isn't an indication of the rest of the jury.

Is it just me or does he seem like he's a publicity hound to you all too?

Hey everyone.....

I think what amazes me most about people like OJ and Scott Peterson, or even the Charles Manson's in the world is that people are so concerned about "human rights" of these prisioners, but what about the rights of those who died? What about the rights of Conner and Laci? Never will Mrs. Rocha be able to hold and kiss the sweet face of her grandbaby. Where are the "rights" of the victims? I get so mad over this kind of thing and the injustice done to the family of the victims and the victims.

Ok, I am done blowing off steam now!

You are so right!!! It makes me sick that the victims are pushed to the side in order to protect the rights of the accused. I hate it!!!!!!

I just found out there is going to be a open chat on court tv.com with the ousted juror at 3pm EST if you all are interested in asking him questions and a guest chat with the CTV reporter covering the case.

I found a site http://www.modbee.com/ . This is the "Modesto Bee". It carries articles on the Laci Peterson case nearly every day. Not sure if they are for or agaisnt Scott.... should be neutral if the truth be known... but then in my opinion, that is not always the case.  Check it out if you are interested.

I just heard on Court TV that Amber Frey is being accused of making secret phone calls to Scott without police knowledge. She's busted!

Her credibility just went in the toilet. What on earth was she thinking? I felt really sorry for her in the beginning but now that she's been caught by police making clandestine calls to Scott,I'm not so sure about her.....What on earth was she thinking?!?

I don't think she was in on it with him but the fact she was talking to him behind law enforcement's back makes me highly suspicious. Why in God's name would she be even talking to him after all that went on and she knew,SHE KNEW he was a suspect! I know love is blind but they had only known each other a short time and the kind of love that makes you want to lie for your partner doesn't happen in that short a time span in my opinion.I don't know that I would ever lie for my man if he was a murder suspect. I don't think I would. She put her foot in it big time.

I just am stupified by this whole thing. Everytime something happens,I think it can't get any more crazy and then something else comes out.
