Memphis, Tn Educator Found Dead In School

Not the best way to kick off the school year.  The principal of a private school in Memphis, TN was found dead inside the school, in a pool of blood.  A suspect in the death is being questioned at this time.

" Memphis police have charged Eduardo Marmolejo with first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of a Christian school principal Suzette York on the third day of classes. " Courtesy of CBS News website.

What is with people these days ? I'm starting to think that we should all go back to the time when people were thrown into psychiatric wards at the drop of a hat...

All because he didn't like her... Well I'm sorry kiddo but murder is not the answer to personal disapprovement of another human life...

Where the  do kids learn that it is ?!??!?

I think they know the difference between right and wrong. They just don't care. I can't begin to tell you the studies I've read and research there has been that point to the parents teaching their kids that murder is wrong. It is a permanant action that there is no coming back from. Some children, for whatever reason,(drugs, any kind of abuse in the home, etc.) will kill anyway because of the disturbances they have endured in their short lives.

And very young children who kill simply do not understand that there is no coming back from the dead.It is almost like seeing a film and when someone dies, but comes back later,or in the sequel. They simply do not understand the permanance of death at their age.The exposure to violence in today's society gives them the impression that it is an acceptable way to solve conflict.

As Metallica says, you know it's sad but true.disbelief

I did a poll of parents when I was in a child development class, it was in relation to when and what to tell children about death. Most older more mature parents ( early 30's and up ) said that they had a plan and a fairly honest approach, however the younger generation were not prepared and admitted to not knowing how to go about it.

confuse I was stunned. I started asking questions about who they were going to turn to for answers, some said religious leaders and others that they would figure it out when it came up but not before.

I'm interested in knowing if there are any organizations, other than religiously sanctioned, that offer this type of help for parents... Some research, if not organization, is obviously in a block of my time in the near future! smile Task list, plus one... lol...

I went with the basic, matter of fact approach with my child.Luckily I did not have to explain many deaths to her while she was young. Unfortunately one was a peer or hers that she loved dearly and another was a friend of ours she'd become very attached to.That was difficult as well.     evileye
