Susan Powell, mother of 2 small boys, disappeared from the Salt lake City area in 2009. Her husband's strange story was that he took his two boys camping, in the dead of winter, late at night, and when he returned from that camping trip, Susan was gone, and that she had possibly run off with another man. He has long been considered a person of interest in the case. There have been no leads, until very recently. Her husband and children wound up moving out of the area and back to his home state. His home was searched on Thurs. Last weekend, a new search for her was conducted.
What has me so irate about this case right now is that Susan's father in law has been all over the trash tv talk shows lately, spreading all kinds of rumors about his daughter in law (including that she was very sexually agressive towards him.) Even if that turns out to be true, why go on national tv and say that crap? What if her kids see that? Susan's family of course is denying all of the rumors.
I don't believe any of this.The husband looks like the most likely suspect with the father in law coming in a close 2nd. There was some talk about her participating in a drug sting,I don't believe any of that either.
I think they are going to have a hard time finding a body if there is one.The location they lived in was middle of nowhere,Utah.And the husband's alibi looks odd.If they can get something off his hard drive,which the Huffington Post reported the cops just picked up from their home they might have something.Let's hope so.
And the plot thickens even more. Susan Powell's father in law is facing child porn and voyeruism charges. Police investigating Susan's disappearence came across thousands of images in her father in law's posession of women who had been taped without their knowledge. One of those women who was taped without her knowledge was Susan. Some of the images found were of young girls as young as 8 and 10 yrs old. He was arrested and will be arraigned on Friday.
Susan Powell's father is now seeking custody of his grandchildren. They had been living with their father in their grandfather's house (the one who was just arrested.) Since the arrest, the children were put into foster care. I frankly can't understand when a parent or grandparent is the main person of interest in a murder case how they are still able to retain custody of their children. I have seen it so many times, and it makes not a lick of sense to me.
Yes ma'am, we are talking about the grandfather/aka the father in law/aka the creepy weird guy who said he and Susan had a romantic relationship, which her family, friends deny. They say he was obsessed with her. Right now the grandchildren are in foster care, and Susan's parents are trying to get custody. You know what's strange? Susan Powell's husband has been strangely quiet thru all of this. He hasn't come out and publicly defended his father, and he hasn't respnded, at least not publicly, to the custody dispute. Another interesting development, Susan Powell's sis in law (her hubby's sister) has come out publicly AGAINST her own father! She said it was a relief that he was arrested.
Susan Powell's parents have been granted temporary custody of her sons, following the arrest of their paternal grandfather on voyeurim and child porn charges. The children's father was stunned that he lost custody, at least for the time being. The judge felt that the arrest of the grandfather, couples with the fact that the father is still the only person of interest in the disappearence of the children's mother warranted a change in custody.
I have to agree with that judge.That whole case is messed up like nobody's business.Those poor kids!
You have to feel sorry for the babies.I just don't know what in the world what the dad must be thinking.Surely he isn't believing all that nonsense that Susan was involved with his father could he?
The Susuan Powell case has officially closed, due to no new leads. Susan Powell was a mother/housewife who mysteriously disappeared in 2009. Her husband and father in law were both suspects in her disappearence. Now her father in law sits in jail on charges related to another case, and her husband killed himself and their sons in a fire in 2012. So, due these recent events, and no new leads emerging, officials are closing her case. Neither Susan nor her remains have ever been found, and what happened to her remains a mystery. Officials did say if any new leads emerged they would reopen the case.
Despite being closed, law enforcement released a tape to the public. In the homeade tape, Susan films herself, stating she wants her parents to take care of her kids if something should happen to her and/or her hubby, and that if she dies, it might not be an accident even if it looks like one.
Interesting article with alot of info on the case. Susan Powell has never been found, and the three men suspected in her disapearence (her husband, father in law, and brother in law) are all either dead or in prison. Police WILL investigate any new leads that may come in, despite the case being officially closed.
This makes me sick. Everytime I think about it I wanna hurl. An entire family of sick freaks. That's just sweet. Another case of,"We'll never know what really happened".
