Sprint PCS sells two bluetooth phones, or at least they did before the merger with Nextel. Both phones have the same identical advertising blurb on their web site. Problem is, the least expensive of the two is not fully functional. The LG PM325 does not support OBEX, a profile that is required for file sharing, including transferring of the phone book from the phone to a car phone system. I learned about OBEX after I purchased the phone and discovered that I could not transfer my phonebook from the phone to the car. After filing an FCC complaint, I had the "pleasure" of speaking with a rep. from Sprint, who conveniently could not find a record of my complaint letter having been received. After a long and frustrating conversation, I got her to admit that she had never heard of OBEX. A bit later, she had the nerve to say that I should have asked about the OBEX functionality when I bought the phone. So, it seems Sprint expects their customers to know more about how their products work than their own reps do. Interesting, when I purchased the phone, a "Store Manager" waited on me. I asked for the LG bluetooth phone. He looked at me like deer eyes in headlights. He figured it out when I repeated my request using the full model name and number. Now tell me, if a store manager cannot figure out which phone the LG bluetooth is when they only sell two bluetooth phones (an LG and a Treo), how in the heck would I expect him to know anything about OBEX! The lovely lady at Sprint refused to make things right by moving my contract termination date up or by upgrading me to the fully functional phone. I would rather pay the termination fee than give Sprint one more minute of my business.
Have you contacted the corperate office of Sprint to file a complaint? I'd call them and make sure they knew what was going on in the store you patronized.
I wrote a complaint letter which Sprint refuses to acknowledge that they received. I complained with the FCC. I just got a letter today from Sprint saying they are sorry that I was not aware that the LG PM325 did not have OBEX functionality. They offered to upgrade me to the Palm Treo if I would pay the difference in costs between the two phones and return the LG. Ha! For the $330 and change, I can cancel my two Sprint contracts and get a free fully functional bluetooth phone with T-Mobile. Bye bye Sprint.
ok, This is getting WAY to similar. I moved up to the 325's for myself and my wife, keeping my old Sanyos in the drawer. Had to sign a two-year contract. 1 week later I had to return them both because of my discoverd lack of Obex. They would NOT release me from the new contract else I would also change companies. BUT I WAS promised new Obex-working phones during the winter but have seen none from sprint.
