Jacob Ind lived in Woodland park Colorado with his mother and step father........lots of abuse (Mental,Sexual and Physical) growing up. He was given life in prison for their murder.
Hope you had a great weekend. I read up on the Jacob Ind case. As sad as it is,and tragic, most definately, the law is constructed to punish minors for crimes heinous enough to send them to court to be tried as an adult.
Don't get me wrong: I feel sympathy for Jacob and the years of abuse he endured at the hands of his mother and stepfather. And for him to have killed them in cold blood indicates to me that there was probably something even worse going on that we don't even know about.
However....he should have been charged, tried and punished as an adult. I read the trial transcript over the weekend and it just solidified in my mind that this poor young man just snapped under the weight of all his psychological damage. He should have at least gotten some slack for that. And then for him to be incarcerated at a Supermax facility? Timothy McVeigh he is not.
You can go to the bottom of the first page of the board and the pages are there to be linked on.Did you have a specific crime in mind,I would be more than happy to track that down for you in our archives.
