Metallica Hopes PSA Will Help Find Killer Of Fan

In  October of 2009, after a show by the band Metallica,a young woman named Morgan Harrington was last seen trying to hitch a ride home from the concert in Charlottesville. She was last seen there,waiting. Morgan never made it home.

Her remains were found in a field nearly four months later. The DNA found on her was matched to another sample from a 2005 sexual assault in Fairfax,Virginia.

There is a $150,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Morgan's killer.

I can't stress this enough,Ladies PLEASE don't hitch hike ANYWHERE but home from a Metallica show where there might be thousands of people [I've seen them several times,sold out capacity of 22,000 and yes it ruled!] anyone can get lost in a crowd so just be safe.Please keep yourself from harms way.

I'm still amazed that in this day and age, people, women especially, still hitchhike. There are just too many whackos out there now for this to be an option anymore. I hope this psycho has found. I'm sure this poor girl wasn't his first victim... and she won't be his last. Not unless he's caught soon.

I don't get it either. It isn't safe and I wish more people would take it to heart that something potentially bad will happen if you get in the wrong car.

My thought is she got stranded at the show [has happened to me,I called a cab] and couldn't find another way to get home,ending with terrible results.              evileye

From Blabbermouth.net: A grand jury in Abermale County, Virginia has indicted Jesse Leroy Matthew Jr. in the death of Morgan Harrington, the 20 year old Metallica fan who vanished after one of their shows, only for her remains to be found several months later.

This is the same guy who will go on trial next year [2016] for the slaying of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham.

I'm speechless. RIP Morgan

MSN/Washington Post: Prosecutors have announced they do not intend to seek the death penalty in the case of Jesse Matthew, the man who is being charged with first degree murder and abduction with intent to defile Morgan Harrington, who went missing after a Metallica concert in 2009.

In addition to being charged with the slaying of UV nursing student Hannah Graham, which will go to trial next year, Matthew will also be sentenced for sexually assaulting a woman in 2005.

I can't help but think that if we had stricter laws and someone had been keeping better tabs on this miserable POS, one or both women might be alive today. But that might be wishful thinking on my part, because I find this whole thing so unbelievably disgusting. He sexually assaulted a woman in 05, then killed a woman in 09, then another in 14. Did I get that right? Maybe, like I said, it is all just wishful thinking on my part and I'm just really heated because this miserable really has had himself a hell of a time killing and raping, and he should be put to death. I still believe in the DP, y'all. Some cases demand it. From CBS Crimesider: Jesse Matthew Jr., who has been accused of the murders of Hannah Graham and Morgan Harrington has been sentenced to three life prison terms for a sexual assault on a woman in 2005.

DNA collected last year during the search for the killer of Hannah Graham, and the evidence has also linked Matthew to the murder of Morgan Harrington who went missing in 2009.

Matthew's family asked the court for leniency, as well as a former girlfriend who wrote a letter telling how Matthew was raped as a child.

Frankly, I don't think he deserves leniency, and while no child deserves to be abused, I find it cowardly and irrelevant that his former girlfriend would bring that into this. Stop making excuses for what this criminal did.

According to station WTOP, the killer of Morgan Harrington is expected to pled guilty to her murder and will not face the death penalty. He is serving 3 life sentences for the sexual assault of a woman in 2005.

Morgan's parents were said to be "very relieved" to have this end and this was the "most humane" way to put an end to this situation.
