Pam Hicks, the mother of murder victim Stevie Branch, is suing the city of West Memphis, AR, and the West Memphis PD. She claims in her lawsuit that she wants to see (but not touch) all of the evidence pertaining to her son's case, and to know that the police still have it in case there is ever another prosecution. So far she has not been granted access to the evidence.
Pam Hicks has publicly expressed that not only is she thrilled that the West Memphis Three were freed last year and she believes in their innocence, but also that she has suspicions that her ex husband is the real killer.
Pam Hicks son, Stevie Branch, along with 2 of his best friends Michael Moore, and Christopher Byers, were brutally murdered on May 5th, 1993 in West Memphis, AR. They were all 8 years old at the time of their deaths. 3 men were tried and convicted for the murders, but were released many years later. The men convicted of their murders are known as the West Memphis Three, and all three men claim they are innocent (no physical or forensic evidence has ever been found tying any of the West Memphis Three to the murders.)
Currently there are no new leads, and the West Memphis Police Dept is not actively investigating the case.
Now I have to vent about this... not about the lawsuit but the case in general. I live in TN, although not close to West Memphis, AR, I live on the other side of TN. But even here, this case has long been talked about. You see, if you're strolling around downtown Memphis by the Mississippi River, West Memphis, AR is on the other side... just take a quick drive across the Memphis Bridge and you're there. For a long time, many Tennesseeans were frightened that whoever committed the killings in AR would take that quick drive across the bridge and bring their horror to TN. So it just infuriates me that the West Memphis PD is not doing anything to solve this case. They are convinced the WM3 are guilty... and refuse to look at any other suspects, even though one of the stepfathers of one of the boys has no alibi for the time of the murders, there is physical evidence tying him and at least one other person to the murder victims and the crime scene, the boys were last seen alive with one of their stepfathers, and there is NO EVIDENCE at all tying any of the WM3 to the murders. But instead of possibily admitting they made a mistake, the West Memphis PD has instead refused to investigate this case any further, despite the fact that the WM3 were released last year. I can't believe a police dept is so willing to let three child murders go unsolved simply because they refuse to admit they could be wrong.
And the really chilling part is when you take a drive across that bridge and you're in West Memphis.... you can still feel the evil that lurks in that town, the sadness of the town that lost 3 little boys, and the fear of the people that live there... because they know the killer is still among them.
I read the comments after the article and people kept saying this is all about Pam,just kinda ripping on her. Pam has my total support. The hell that woman is in. It will live with her untill she leaves this planet. Why? Because she STILL doesn't know who murdered her child!!
The opposing viewpoint is that the items in question need to stay impounded in the event anyone was ever charged with this crime.I would like to see someone charged with this crime. The RIGHT person. I don't know who that is. I have my suspicions like everyone else. But man,I just don't know if we are ever going to get to the bottom of this horrible, evil thing.
