So I recently discovered that a woman was arrested in the town I live in for DUI and other related charges yesterday, courtesy of Right2know, a link to anyone and everyone who's been arrested and for what charges.
I've also noticed that the local media hasn't uttered one single word on this case. Strange? Normally, yes, because anytime the "little people" here commit a crime, it's front page news of the newspapers and the leading story on the local evening news. So what makes this case different? The difference is that the woman arrested is not considered "little people." She's the wife of one of the most prominent lawyers in this town, not to mention a huge campaign contributer to people like Senator Bob Corker, and Congressman Chuck Fleischman.
I guess when you are friends with Senators and Congressmen, and your hubby is one of the most well known lawyers in the city, you can do whatever the heck you want, and you won't make the news!
I have to agree with this the media is pretty jacked up when it comes to money vs poverty. For some people money seems to make a difference in reporting and how the story gets handled.
The media goes for the high money makers.Example....remember when Britney Spears went all batsnot crazy? That got the most horrendous cover of Rolling Stone and they bashed homegirl into the ground. It was pathetic. And Jon Benet Ramsey? Come on! How many children go missing and the media made that seem like....well you get the picture.
I don't like it,it isn't fair and it is for sure not conducitive to getting a fair, speedy objective trial in this country.
