A teenage girl and her two yr old child were rescued in Illinois after she was held hostage for two years.  She was repeatedly sexually and physically assaulted by her captors.  Her 2 yr old child is a result of one of those sexual assaults.  She had disappeared in 2010 when she was 15 yrs old from St. Louis.  Police there listed her as a runaway.

This is a prime example of why we all need to GET INVOLVED, with our children, their schools, their friends, our neighbors and our communities.  Because lord knows how many other kids are being held against their will right under our noses... and most of us are clueless, because we don't get involved.  

You also have to wonder, because of the label law enforcement gave her, if they took her disappearence as seriously as they should have.  I know that here, if your kid is listed as a runaway, they not receive near the amount of cooperation from law enforcement as an "abducted" child receives.  Just because a child runs away instead of being abducted does not mean that they are in any less danger.
