Coming from a multi racial family this just tears me up.
Johnnie Lee Butts,61,was taking his wake up walk at about 6:30 and neighbors waved as he passed him. But all that came to a halt as 3 teenagers,all awake from being high and drunk all night,saw him and sped toward him. Allegedly one of the back seat passengers told him,"Dude don't do anything stupid!" And the driver,Matthew Whitten "Whit" Darby slammed into the victem,Johnnie Lee,so hard his leg broke through the windshield. He died on impact.
The town Is not labeling this as a hate crime. The other people in the care were minors and are being charged as suched.It has caused a considerable amount of tention and amimosity between many people,saying he was only run over because of his race,others saying the kids were drunk and high and would have hit Taylor Swift if she'd been standing there.
Hard to say... I can see both sides equally on this. Don't kids today have anything better to do than this type of stupid crap? Where the heck are the parents?? It frightens me that these are the kind of jackwagons that will some day be leading this country.... they will lead this country right into oblivion.
I think he should be tried as an adult,for one and the kids with him as well. It's difficult to say. I'd like to know where the parents are as well. I knew where my kid was at night when she was 18 and she was not out drinking and driving around acting a fool. She was at my house LOL. But seriously,I tried to provide a safe enviroment for her and her friends to do what they wanted.
