Concord NH: Pamela Smart, the woman who had her 16 year old boyfriend kill her husband [if you believe the prosecution and this kid] sits in jail serving a life sentence while Billy Flynn goes before a parole board for the first time this week, on Thursday, his 41st birthday.
Flynn pleaded guilty to second degree murder and testified in Smart's 1991 trial that Smart threatened to break up with him if he didn't kill her husband. He was sentenced to 28 years to life minus credit for pre-trial incarceration.
If granted parole, he would be released this summer.
This was posted last year on the website The Huffington Post:
Billy Flynn, the gunman in the 1990 murder of Greg Smart was transferred to a facility in Warren, Maine to participate in a work release program for low risk offenders. Two of the other young men involved have already been released. One has been in a similar work release program for low risk offenders.
I didn't know any of that but in light of this, I'd be surprised if they didn't let him out. I believe his parole hearing is tomorrow. [Thursday 3-12-2015].

As predicted, Flynn was granted parole. And there are no shortage of people making comments about how he will probably kill again, which I seriously doubt. I don't think he really wanted to kill Greg. I bet Pam is having a first class attack that he'll be released this summer.
I saw this on the CNN Crime and Justice section. It's a video of Pam talking about how she thinks that if the courts have given parole supervised freedom to the 4 kids responsible for the murder of her husband, they should take a look at her too. She says that if she had confessed to a lesser charge, she already would have been out under the guidelines for sentencing. I don't know how that works, so, yeah.
I couldn't understand why she was petitioning the governor for clemency and not a sentence reduction. But this video explains it: because she's exhausted all her appeals, she doesn't qualify for sentence reduction. Clemency is her best bet [although I seriously doubt she'll get it] or a full out pardon [not a snowball's chance in hell]. Here's your link. Pammy's ready for her close up.
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) A second New Hampshire man who helped kill Pamela Smart's husband 25 years ago in a lurid case that inspired sensational media coverage was granted parole Thursday after being warned to stay away from the victim's family at all costs.
Patrick Randall was 16 in May 1990 when he held a knife to Gregory Smart's throat as Billy Flynn, who was Pamela Smart's then-16-year-old lover, shot him in the head.
Flynn was paroled last month; Smart is serving life without parole after being convicted of plotting the murder.
