This is a link to pervertedjustice.com which details their battle to shut down Team Amber Alert. Team Amber Alert is NOT IN ANY WAY associated with the true Amber Alert. They specialize in setting up fake websites for missing children in order to con people into donating money which, it appears, goes only to the website owner---not to the families of the missing children. They did this with the Jessica Lunsford case, and Mark Lunsford became irate. They did it with the Natalee Holloway case.
Due to the efforts of the people at Perverted Justice, the United States Department of Justice became involved, and Team Amber immediately removed all their fake team amber alert tickers from websites. The investigation into Team Ambert Alert is ongoing, but they have closed multiple sites completely. The thing is, with those people, it seems for every one they are forced to close, four new ones are opened. With the DOJ breathing down their neck, maybe this won't continue.
Is this the same site that was profiled on Dateline? They would set a guy up and bust him
Oh, yes it is, Anna. Perverted Justice just completed another sting operation in Georgia. Dateline was on the scene, camera ready!! I can hardly wait until those shows hit the airwaves. Several upstanding members of their communities will soon be made FAMOUS as people who solicited online a person they thought to be a minor AND THEN actually came to have sex with that minor. Sick, sick, sick.
Even some of the people at Pervertedjustice.com were not fully informed of how the sting would operate for fear something would accidentally leak out.
