Ron Goldman's family cuts deal to publish 'If I Did It' book, with commentary
LOS ANGELES (AP) A literary agent for the family of stabbing victim Ronald Goldman has made a deal to repackage and publish O.J. Simpson's canceled "If I Did It" book about the slayings of Goldman and Simpson's ex-wife, a spokesman for the agent said Monday.
Details of the agreement, including the name of the New York publishing house, will be released Tuesday, said Michael Wright, a spokesman for Los Angeles-based literary agent Sharlene Martin of Martin Literary Management.
"The family and publisher have pledged to leave Simpson's manuscript entirely intact, but they will also add key commentary," Wright said in a prepared statement. "The Goldmans, the publisher and Sharlene Martin will all contribute portions of sales proceeds to the Ron Goldman Foundation for Justice."
Wright declined further comment. Martin primarily represents self-help, nonfiction and memoir writers, including "You'll Never Nanny in This Town Again" author Suzanne Hansen, according to her Web site.
The Simpson book, in which he reportedly explains how he might have committed the killings, was not released last year as originally planned because of public outrage.
Last month, a federal bankruptcy judge awarded rights to the book to Goldman's family to help satisfy a $38 million wrongful death judgment against the former football star.
Simpson has maintained his innocence in the 1994 killings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Goldman. Simpson, who now lives near Miami, was acquitted of murder in 1995.
Not sure how I feel about all this. I still believe he did it and pretty much walked away with murder.I'm pleased for the Goldman's,I think they honestly feel this is a victory and since OJ cares about his wallet more than any human, this definately hits him where it counts.
What do you guys think? Will you read this? Will you buy it,now that you know OJ won't see a dime of this money? Let's hear what you have to say.
I really don't have a problem with it since the $$$ isn't going to oj. What really got me was Denice talking about how Fred Goldman is all about the $$$ but only after her attorneys tried to get 50% and the courts denied it because the rights were handed over to the Goldman family. Denice and family never went after oj because they wanted to be able to see the kids and I can respect that but Denice...STFU!!

While I feel sorry for the Brown's,I have a problem with Denice. I feel that she has been manipulative and has engineered many situations to focus on herself and not on OJ [who I believe is the killer]. There is also the issue of money. That shouldn't even be a problem but unfortunately it is.
Me either! Me either! Can I play? I am in the middle of working on my dissertation, but I would happily like to take a break to read this book and talk about it.
I saw the Goldman's on Oprah, and Denise refused to be on the same stage with them to discuss the publishing of the book. I have a problem with Denise too. Does she do anything else but work for the Nicole Brown Foundation? There's nothing wrong with that, but if she is going to talk about the Goldmans being money-hungry, then a few arrows could be shot her way for making a living off her sister's murder. The Goldman's have done what they thought was the right thing to do. Even if the Browns and particularly Denise don't agree, they should just remain silent on the topic. All involved should remember who the real villian is here...
Well,it's taken me a while to get this done and then I had to think about it for a while.I was mad all over again. I thought this might make me feel better about the things that surrounded this case but unfortunately,it did not.And it didn't for the people I spoke to either.I hung out where it was and a few people came by and got a copy. Most of them told me they were angry at how badly mismanaged the case was and wanted to know how he could have done such a thing and got away with it. When I reminded them it was a "hypothetical" scenerio, all of them looked at me like I just snorted a line of PCP. NOTE TO OJ:NOBODY'S BUYING YOUR 'HYPOTHETICAL' DISCLAIMER.
The book itself is ridiculous.OJ paints himself as a victim of Nicole, not the other way around. He actually calls himself a battered husband,at which point I became so angry I had to put it down and go outside with my dog. He pretty much tears her down every way he can and tries to make himself into a sympethetic charecter who's only crime was "loving Nicole too much." Absolutely sick and nauseating, the only thing that made me feel better is that a fried of mine had won a donation to a charity of her choice in a church carnival. She asked my advice and I chose for her The Nicole Brown Foundation.
