So you guys (especially you Anna haha) have to take a look at what's going on in the asscrackhole better known as Ringgold, Ga (it's a dinky little craphole of a town about 30 mins from where I live.)
There is pretty much a witch hunt going on. A woman named Tonya Craft, who was an elementary teacher, is currently on trial for molesting 3 little girls. Little to no evidence has been brought forth to prove any molestation actually occured, other than the children's testimony (one child even said she was promised a toy if she said she was molested.) And the biased judge on this case has allowed the prosecution anything and everything it wants, meanwhile is denying the defense everything and anything it wants.
First off, I believe she's totally innocent, but that's irrelevant. What got all this mess started was a couple of years ago, Tonya's own daughter suggested that she was being molested in her father and stepmother's home. When Tonya began to investigate her daughter's claims, her ex hubby managed to turn the tables on her somehow (I'm still not clear how), and now she's the one standing accused of molestation (mind you, before Tonya began to look into her daughter's claims, she had never been accused of any type of crime or inappropriate behavior towards children.)
Her trial has turned into a soap opera. It's like Desperate Housewives meets Law and Order.
Tomorrow, the Today Show will be doing a story on this. Also, to read a play by play of Tonya's trial thus far, go to http://www.chattanoogan.com
Man,what an unholy mess. And the thing that bothers me the most is the kids will be the ones that get the shortest straw.
From what I can tell, she seems like at best, she's just a victim of bad judgement. At worst? Yeah.I am sure you know where that is going. It's just a terrible situation all over.
And the link you gave me focuses on something important:the media is going to be total jerks about this. Its so hard to get a fair trial in a police state, where fear has set into a community and the accused has been tried and convicted in the court of public opinion.
I can't say I definitively think she's innocent,I would have to go into it a little bit more but cases like this remind me this sort of thing has happened before and been proven to be the projection of some very angry parents/ex-spouses.
In any case,God bless those little ones. They're going to need it.
Well, there are many people who think she's innocent. Simply because no charges were brought against her until after she reported her ex hubby and his wife to child protective services because she thought something improper was going on with her daughter while at their home. And after she told the parents of one of her students that she was going to have to hold them back and now allow their child to proceed to 1st grade. Then all the sudden these charges against her come out of nowhere.
But she has no pattern of any type of improper behavior towards children. And the prosecution has no evidence to present that any actual molestations have occured, so they're engaging in a horrible character assassination on her.
Now, all that said, it is possible that she is guilty. Because these 3 little girls have stuck to their stories. However, there are huge holes in their testimonies. Details about their stories keep changing, and it's impossible to tell if it's because they're having trouble remembering actual events that occured, or if it's because they can't remember the lies their parents told them to tell.
Speaking of the parents of these children. They sure don't act like any parents of abused children. They are ENJOYING all the attn they are receiving, especially now that this case has been thrown into the national spotlight
Totally agreed,Enigma. It's unfortunate there isn't a better way to get resolution but there it is.
I hate what this must be doing to the children...no matter if she's guilty or not. It's going to be detrimental to them psycologically even at their young age.
Plain and simple,it just sucks all the way around.
TONYA CRAFT WAS JUST FOUND NOT GUILTY ON ALL 22 COUNTS OF CHILD MOLESTATION!!
She's going to be on the Today Show, and possibly other morning shows within the coming days.
But the witch hunt isn't over yet. Tonya lost custody of her children due to these false charges and circus show of a trial. She will have to go to court to regain custody. It's very possible the same prosecuting attorney and biased judge will be the same ones presiding over the custody case, because down in Ringgold Ga, that's just how corrupt their justice system is. If her custody case lands in their courtroom, she still has another big fight ahead of her.
Tonya Craft had full custody of her children prior to the false allegations, and circus show of a trial. Because of what she was accused of, she lost custody of her children (she lost custody of them before the trial ever began, she lost custody soley based on the lies coming out of her ex husband's mouth.) After fighting more than a year, she was finally allowed supervised visitation with her son. But she's not been allowed any contact at all with her daughter for 2 years (the very same daughter that made allegations against her STEPMOTHER, allegations that the police refused to investigate.)
She has been aquitted of all charges, and is trying to regain custody of her children. The judge who is handling the original custody/divorce case (different from the judge who handled the molestation trial) declined to sign a petition granting Tonya immediate contact and visitation with the children. Instead this judge wanted Tonya and her attorney's to try and work something out on their own with her ex husband and his attorney's. Well, pretty hard to work something out when your ex husband and his attorney's refuse to answer the phone. His attorney's wouldn't even answer the door when her attorney's went to their law firm! Yet, his attorney's claim they "know nothing about this situation, they haven't heard from her attorneys." That's such crap, news cameras followed Tonya's attorneys to her ex husband's attorney's law firm and were filmed knocking on the door and waiting around for a long time hoping someone would answer the door since no one was taking their calls. it is unbelieveable to me how obsessed some parents get with trying to ruin their ex's lives, and using their own children as pawns to do just that.
I'm not suprised some judge opted for them to mediate through their lawyers I mean, less work for him and less bullcrap for the court system, right?
It's got to be some kind of crime for them to not address her lawyers, isn't it? Can't she petitition the court with the video evidence and whatever else she's got? And I find it odd noone will investigate the child's claim she's being abused. She only has to tell the right person and a whole spitstorm will go down.
Honey, it's the good ole boy network at it's best in Ringgold, Ga. YOU should do an article on this, and not just this specific case. You should look into the RAMPANT corruption that goes on in the Lookout Mountain, Ga, judicial circuit. It's scary.
You betcha. In this particular case, Tonya Craft's ex hubby (and the father of her two children), had money. His current wife has a lot of money (thru her family) as well as connections, friends in high places, etc. Her ex hubby is friends with the judge, and his wife's family is friends with the District Attorney.
After Tonya won her case, story after story began coming out of how many people have been railroaded thru the Lookout Mtn, Ga, judicial circuit. Now, I'm sure some of these people who were sent to jail were actually guilty, not everyone is innocent. But I've no doubt several innocent people are currently sitting in prison because of the corruption there.
An interesting side note: the Tonya Craft Trial was the biggest trial that the town of Ringgold, Ga, and the Lookout Mtn, Ga judicial circuit had seen in decades. So I find it very curious that the District Attorney there DID NOT prosecute this case. His 2 assistant dist attorneys were the ones prosecuting. The DA didn't show his face at all during the trial, not once. I find that very odd, unless he knew the state had no case, and he wanted to distance himself from this case, since this is an election year.
