Makes you wonder sometimes when a child molester will get 3 years and someone will steal a car and get 25 years. That is just plain wrong. I think that anyone who commits asexual crime against a child should get life behind bars. That's it. No questions. No pleas. You like kids, well we have people who will really like you. I cannot think of why anyone thinks they can rehabilitate someone who gets turned on sexually by a little child. And sometimes murder that child. Must be the good folk at the ACLU.

You have to keep in mind that there is a very broad definition of "child molester". A 19 year old who has sex with their 16 year old significant other in some states, yes, that is a child molester. Is this a person who should have their life destroyed and put in prison?
Good thing it's not up to either of you!
Interestingly enough, most sex offenses are committed by first time offenders - 95% in fact. The recidivism rate is not as high as the media wishes to perpetuate, and rehabilitation efforts can therefore be seen as successful. A few high profile cases create chaos for the sheeple and the media grasp hold to it like it's a carnival day on Fox news.
There is also an epidemic of false allegations of sexual offenses currently taking control. The grandpa who changed his toddler granddaughter's pull up, and she now reports "he touched me there" is now a sex offender. The teen who is covering for her pregnancy reports that her boyfriend raped her. The angry ex who states that her ex molested their daughter.
Sex crimes are power crimes- this includes legitimate instances of rape et al, as well as falsely accusing someone of a sexually based offense.
Actual pedophilia is a different story. This is a condition in which a person is sexually turned on by someone pre-puberty. That does not include some kind of criteria in which case they are unable to control their impulses. I am heterosexual, I am turned on by those of the opposite sex. That does not mean I am unable to control my impulses.
Perhaps treatment for pedophilia would be effective if people who see that within themselves felt that they could seek treatment for it. But the second they admit to it they can lose everything. It is a thought crime that one can get charged for.
Just to REPEAT myself for our slower readers, this isn't the pentagon and I am not the CIA. And any imbicile on God's planet knows all you have to do is go to the libarary and their IP will show up under your comment. It's not rocket science.
