Etan Patz was an adorable little boy who disappeared in 1979. He became the poster boy for missing children, and was the first missing child ever to have their face featured on a milk carton. The prime suspect in his case was never charged, and Etan was declared dead in 2001, though his body has never been found, and the case was closed. 2 yrs ago, the case was reopened, though law enforcement is declining to say why. A new lead has been developed, let's hope it's the lead his family has been waiting for.
Cadavar dogs have detected the scent of human remains at the site being searched for Etan. Some people have commented (not here but on other sites) why spend money, time, and resources to look for this kid since he disappeared so long ago. It shouldn't matter when he disappeared. The fact that he is a missing child is all that matters. His family deserves answers. And he deserves a proper burial.
We want to believe that there are no such thing as disposable people, everyone deserves closure after loss.
Life doesn't follow the rules of what we as society believe is wrong and right.Bad things happen. But it is my understanding the cops know who did this, he's already behind bars.
It isn't for me to say "Why give THIS case closure?" when there have been so many since,as bad and worse. The money isn't the point.Etan deserves his dignity back, cruelly taken from him by some unworthy person.
Now I'm hearing [this is word of mouth,I have to look for a link] the guy in prison [for something else] said he took Etan to the basement where he made advances but let him go.He was found responsible in a civil trial where the family has been awarded 2 million which they have never collected.
The man they are questioning is a handyman who had access to that basement.
Heard that too.... yeah, right, sure he let him go.... what a bunch of bs. Cause any sexual predator lets the kid go when the kid rejects their advances. What a moron. If he's going to lie he could at least attempt to make the lie believeable.
So far, no remains have been found. A "suspicious stain" was found during this search and it's being tested. As sad as this is to say, I don't think they will ever find this poor little boy, nor will they ever discover what happened to him.
As it always seems to be with this case... a promising new lead develops, and sadly, it yields nothing. No remains were discovered. No evdience at all was discovered suggesting Etan Pats had ever been in the basement. A suspicious stain was discovered and is being tested, but those results have not been released as of yet. I can't imagine how the family copes with this... they still live in the same apt that they lived in when Etan disappeared. And their apt is just a couple hundred feet from where this search took place. How heartbreaking it must have been to watch the search from their window hoping that finally they would find an answer on what happened to their little boy... only to find a dead end once again. I honestly don't think they will ever find out what happened to their son.
Unfortunately,I have to go with my wingman on this one.I doubt we'll ever know what truely happened to poor Etan. I can't imagine the heartbreak, then all the passing years, then AGAIN with the so called "new evidence". It all amounted to nothing....nothing but more grief and heartache. God bless them.
