I really had to get in the way back machine for this one. I knew we had a post somewhere about this, it was a really big case back in the day. Etan Patz was the first child to be featured on a milk carton in the "missing''series of kids that had been abducted or had just plain disapeared back in the day. But finally someone has been charged and convicted of the murder of Of Etan Patz. Pedro Hernandez, now 56 was 19 at the time he molested and killed 6 year old Etan in 1979. He initally confessed but later recanted.

Etan Patz went missing when after much pleading, his parents Stanley and Julie Patz let Etan walk to the bus stop alone for the first time. The school did not notify the Patz' that Etan was missing that day when his teacher failed to report it to the principal and when he did not return home, Julie called the police.

Jose Ramos, a local bodega worker who had briefly known the woman who walked Etan home from the bus stop on occasion, was a convicted child molester who had lured other children into a tunnel where police found child pornography.Ramos went through 2 trials, one with a hung jury the second convicting him, without realizing that he was incarcerated at the time of the murder. I've no idea how that happened but when I read that itwas just like WTF! Are you people totally stupid?

This is really a shame. It should not have taken this long for justice to be served in this case. I don't even have any smort cracks or moral indignation. Here's your links. RIP ETAN
