I only know of the case thru news and movies... I was 3 when it happened.
A man in Chowchilla California kidnapped an entire schoolbus full of children and buried them alive in a rock quarry on July 15th, 1977 and planned to ransom them off for a total of 5 million dollars. Thanks to the heroics of the bus driver, all of the children escaped, alive and unharmed.
Now it seems this whacko somehow charmed the parole board, and he is scheduled to be freed sometime later this month. God help us all.
