Reports from London police assistant  commissioner Mark Rowley are indicating that the investigation into the disappearance of Maddie Mcann will be stepping up in the next few weeks "in a substantial stage of ground activity" in Portugal. He cautions, though, that this does not mean an arrest is close  or that a suspect is about to be named.

So....what this means I don't exactly know. They must know SOMETHING they didn't know before or they wouldn't be releasing this  kind of statement, right? On the other hand, should they even be releasing this kind of statement? The unsub is going to get a clue and hide her even further if they know the authorities are close to a bust, right? We are assuming she is even alive, as much as it pains me to say it, poor baby may not even be with us at all.
