The AP reports a note that was left by a grandmother who murdered her 2 year old grandson Alton, aged 2 and 6 month old Ashton Perry might indicate her reasons for having done it. The woman, Debra Denison, killed herself after shooting both children in Feb. 2013. The note said that her daughter and her husband "didn't deserve to have children."

The parents Brenda Perry and Jance Denison indicated that she long suffered from mental health issues but never thought she was capable of something like this. The firearm used was one that belonged to the father, which Debra insisted on having due to a rash of break ins in her neighborhood. Also noted was the fact that she was very upset at the time by a letter she had received from  her other son who is serving 20 years in prison for a drug related murder. He expressed his feelings about her lies to him about being the product of rape.
