Daniel Simmons,34, deputy attorney general for the state of Delaware was arrested and charged with four separate counts of rape in the fourth degree after authorities received a tip from a user of the website Grindr.org. The site, launched in 2009, is primarily used as a social location based mobile app for bisexual and gay men.
New Castle County Police began investigating Simmons in March after learning of the alleged incident. Last Friday, when authorities questioned him at his office, he was taken into custody. He was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. After posting $45,000 bail, he resigned from his post shortly thereafter.
Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, son of Vice President Joe Biden has issued no comment on this case.
