Orange County, California: Superior Court Judge M. Marc Kelly has come under fire for his recent decision to reduce the sentence of 19 year old child molester Kevin Jonas Rojano-Nieto, from the mandatory minimum of 25 years to life, saying it was, "cruel and unusual punishment." In his ruling, Kelly also said the man did not mean to hurt the girl [she was sodomized] and that it was not a violent act, nor was it premeditated as he did not seek his victim out.
Rojano-Nieto was sentenced to 10 years. The victim is related to him, although it is not clear how, it took a little reading to figure out that much. A couple of links for you: the story, and links to support having this guy thrown off the bench. There are allegations that this isn't the first time he's cut a child molester some slack. According to the OC Weekly.com, he granted a former California highway patrol man probation when he was caught in a sting for soliciting sex with a minor [your link for that is below].
If all that looks excessive, well.....it isn't. I strongly believe in the laws the cover sex offenders and sometimes feel that they are too lenient. This man got 10 years for sodomizing a 3 year old little girl? A cop got probation for soliciting sex from a minor? Read the transcript of the conversations he had on line with the teenagers he was trolling and you'll see why I'm disgusted by this. I wouldn't support someone getting thrown off the bench if I didn't think they were derelict in their duty to uphold the law and protect the victim, and in these cases, M. Marc Kelly has shown no regard for them. He needs to step down.
There has been an announcement that on August 20,2015 The Official KFI AM 640 Radio, and their hosts, John and Ken will be holding a fundraising/signature rally for the Remove Judge M. Marc Kelly from the bench campaign.
Thursday, August 20,2015 at 3:00 pm at the Ayres Hotel Orange in Orange, California. This information has been taken off the Facebook page that I have been following concerning this case and these are directives from the organizers of the event. If you are planning to attend, please read through and see if you can be of some sort of assistance.
As such, we have a few needs that we are asking the you our concerned community to help provide.
*VOLUNTEERS!!!! Finally, we can now accept volunteers. Our first need will be 10-15 volunteers for the upcoming John and Ken Rally in Orange. If interested, PM us here via this page with your contact information and our Field Director will be in contact with you. Thank you!
*Meet and Greet Host - Next week, most likely on Wednesday 8/19/15, we will need to have a Meet and Greet for our John and Ken Rally volunteers. We will need company that can provide space for 20 or so people to meet, and possible light refreshments for those people. Anyone that helps out will receive recognition on our page.
*Tee Shirt Printing Sponsor - We are printing tee shirts for our volunteers and for our fundraising effort, we need someone to sponsor this cost, ASAP please.
*Office/Desk Space - During the campaign, we are going to need a central location from which people can stop by and pick-up petitions, volunteers can stop by to pick-up supplies, we can receive deliveries at, etc. This doesn't have to be a stand-alone office, we would be happy with a desk that had a phone and computer access on it in the corner of an existing office. We would be driving traffic to this location, so there besides helping the cause, you could be helping others get to know your business!
Please note, that we are NOT a tax deductible campaign, any service or product provided of value will be at a cost to you and/or your company and will need to be documented as such. However, you will be helping to make a difference for the children of Orange County, and by extension, California. Thank you!
-Best regards,
Bryan Scott Founder/Co-Chair Campaign to Recall Judge M. Marc Kelly
If you are planning to attend, please see if you can volunteer your time or efforts for this most worthwhile cause. Our children need to be protected, and they need to be safe from re-offenders who may wind up free on the street because an incompetent judge refused to give the punishment that was called for!!!
