In a raid by the FBI, Postal service and and Indiana State Police, the home of Subway spokesman Jared Fogle was converged upon this morning [7-7-2015]. The FBI refused to comment on the nature of this investigation but it is being reported that is in connection with an earlier investigation of the former executive director Fogel's charitable foundation, which he started to help kids find better eating choices and promote excercise.
Russel Taylor, 43, was arrested in May for possessing over 400 videos of child pornography on his home computers and storage devices. He attempted suicide while in custody but has since improved and is awaiting trial in the custody of US marshalls. Fogle has cut all ties with Taylor.
Subway restaurants announced Tuesday they're suspending their relationship with spokesman Jared Fogle after state and federal authorities descended on his home, just two months after the former director of his charitable foundation was arrested on child pornography charges.
According to a statement released by the company, both sides agreed that suspending the relationship was the appropriate step to take, adding that Fogle continues to cooperate with authorities and expects "no actions forthcoming."
The company had removed references to Fogle from its website by late afternoon Tuesday.
From Fox 59: Federal authorities have confirmed that a Florida woman provided investigators with information that lead to the raid on Subway spokesman Jared Fogel's home this week. The woman claimed she contacted the FBI after Fogel made comments to her that were surprising and disturbing and she was asked to wear a wire.
Fogel's lawyer has called the woman's story "absurd". Kind of interesting because how is this being confirmed by the feds and be a fabrication by some crazy chick? You be the judge.
Fogel has not been arrested or charged but sources have said the investigation is related to a child pornography investigation.

From what I read, the texts were between Jared and a woman [NOT his wife] he was having a relationship with, that he was trying to pimp out on Craigslist for $500 a pop, while he watched. New York Daily News: Former Subway spokesman Jared Fogel is set to plead guilty to possession of child pornography five weeks after FBI agents raided his Indiana home.
The US Attorney office will reveal the details in a Wednsday news conference, that will discuss Fogel's plea deal.

Fogel is to plead guilty to allegations that he paid for sex with minors and recieved child pornography that he knew was produced by the former director of his charitable foundation, Russel Taylor, who was indited in 7 counts of production of child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography.
Prosecutors allege that Taylor shared videos and images with Fogel, and that some of the images were obtained by the use of a camera that was inside a clock that filmed children changing or bathing. Some were as young as 6, some as old as 13 or 14. In addition, Fogel had sex with a minor and was charged with traveling to engage in sexual contact with a minor.
Fogel has agreed to pay $1.4 million in restitution to the 14 victims as well as $100K per victim. The government has agreed not to seek more than 12 1/2 years and Fogel has agreed to not ask for less than 5 years in prison. Frankly, I don't think we should give a half baked damn what he wants. Throw his ass in prison and let the inmates deal with him. We all know how child molesters are viewed in prison!

Here's a great piece from CNN's legal analyst Mark O' Mara, shedding light on the sentencing of Jared Fogel, former Subway pitchman who just pled guilty to possession of child porn and having sex with a minor.
O' Mara explains that Fogel was not involved in production of the material, just in "benefiting" from it and that that in itself defines a lesser crime in the eyes of the law. Also, he may be cooperating with authorities by agreeing to testify against others, such as Russel Taylor, the former head of his charitable foundation who is being charged with a slew of similar charges.
This also explains something called "proportionality". which in legal terms, can mean the sentence of one individual should be congruent with others convicted of similar crimes. So, in theory, one crime is sentenced the same as one crime of the same kind. But has it worked that way?

MSN: Attorney Brad Banks says the former head of the Jared Foundation, the charity created by now disgraced former Subway pitchman Jared Fogel, Russell Taylor will plead guilty to child pornography charges in the near future.
Fogel is also expected to make a guilty plea in November, he faces federal charges of distribution and receipt of child pornography, and traveling to engage in sexual contact with a minor.

There's a whole lot of talk about how the judge gave him more than he was eligible for and for some reason, he thinks this means he should get less than what he was given.
This whole thing disgusts me, especially when he's still in commercials for Subway. I saw one on You Tube last week that had minor children in it. Stop with the yammering that you people at your corp offices cut this scumbag weasel off. You didn't.
It's been all over the news this week that Jared Fogel, the Subway dude got his clock cleaned by another inmate at the correctional facility he is incarcerated in at Englewood Prison in Colorado.
Raise your hand if you aren't suprised.
Apparently, according to this piece from People/MSN, a prison consultant who has clients where Jared is have said that he is a marked man and while it seems he would try and tone it down, he hasn't kept a low profile. Not sure how credible any of this is but here are a couple of links for you.
MSN/USA Today: Katie McLaughlin, the former wife of Jared Fogel who was the pitchman for Subway convicted of recieving child pornography and traveling across state lines to engage in sexual contact with a minor is filing a lawsuit against the fast food chain, in Noblesville, IN. It's unclear from this piece what exactly the nature of this suit is based on and what she's asking for but I'm interested to see what that's about. Surely they can't be held liable for his behavior?
