From Entertainment Weekly: This is actually something I saw on my Twitter feed [@annarocket] and I've linked this page to that account so anyone is welcome to take a look there and I invite anyone who wants to contact me there to do so.
I try not to copy and paste but I'm going to do it here because the plot synopsis says it better than I ever could. It is truely disturbing and being that Warren Jeffs has been convicted, you can take a look at the link provided and see the trailer for the Showtime documentary, "Prophet's Prey" about how Jeffs ran a cult and raped young women and destroyed families. I've provided a couple of other links for you as well, about Jeffs and the case he was convicted for.
In 2001, polygamist Warren Jeffs was sentenced in a Texas court to life in prison plus 20 years for sexually assaulting two women he said were his spiritual wives. A new documentary called Prophets Prey details the story of Jeffs, a former president of Mormon fundamentalist denomination The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and, according to the official synopsis, examines how he bridged the gap between sister wives and ecclesiastically-justified rape.
Prophets Prey is directed by Oscar-nominated documentarian Amy Berg (Deliver Us From Evil, West of Memphis) and is narrated by Nick Cave, who also wrote the score with longtime collaborator Warren Ellis. This Showtime Original doc opens in New York on Sept. 18 and in L.A on Sept. 25 and premieres on Showtime this fall.
From KSL.com/CNN Atlanta: The daughter and son of Warren Jeffs, who is currently incarcerated for the aggravated sexual assaults of a
12 year old and a 15 year old girl in 2011, have come forward to accuse their father of sexual abuse.
Becky Jeffs told CNN's Lisa Ling, "How can I trust him? How is he really our prophet?" Becky also told Ling that she told her sister after her sister revealed she had been abused as well.
CNN airs Becky and Roy Jeffs interview on their series,"This is Life" tonight, Wed 9-29-2015.
From Rolling Stone.com: A new piece on former cult leader Warren Jeffs, "A Polygamist's Cult's Last Stand" detailing the FLDS church and the implosion that occured when he was arrested for multiple convictions of child rape, although he didn't consider that to be the case since he claimed to be married to the many girls, some of them as young as 12 years old.
The largest polygamist cult to date in America, divided between several states splits families and arranges weddings between children and adult men is lorded over by Jeffs who is serving a life sentence in Texas for multiple convictions of child rape. There has been a lot of media coverage about the allegations that the town authorities refuse services such as gas, water, electricity and housing to anyone not affiliated with the church. FDLA is an offshoot of the Mormon church.
Allegations that Jeffs forced men to watch their wives raped by "seed bearers" who were worthy of the bloodline of the FDLA church and his practice of marrying many very young women have been the basis of the case against him, and this piece from Rolling Stone goes into great detail about how even from prison, Jeffs is controlling the cult from behind prison walls.
