If you know me or have been hanging out with us, you know I love nothing better than a down dirty controversial film. And this one promises to be all that and more.
So my homie Jessica [Yo, Jess!] and I were having a discussion about the Dahmer movie and this came up because yet another former Disney star is set to be featured, Garrett Clayton, leaving us to question what Disney is doing to these young kids to want to bust out crazy roles like these. Once I investigated a little I was like, holy this is some deep dark hardcore. So I'd probably better warn you now, don't step up to bat with this one if you don't have the balls.
Based on the 2007 murder of porn producer extrordinaire Bryan Kocis, the film tells the story of how two men who went from running an escort service to wanting to become successful gay porn film makers and snatch the title from Kocis who owned the production under the label King Cobra.I won't get into too much detail here but it's a hell of a story. There's also a book about this that I've never heard of but you can bet I'm going to read it because it sounds like something I want to review. Called "Cobra Killer: Gay Porn, Murder and the Manhunt To Bring The Killers To Justice" by Andrew E. Stoner [ISBN 0692568123]
Here's some links for you, obviously some of this you don't want your boss to see you looking at while you are supposed to be working so view carefully.
I finally got a chance to see the movie this post was about while I was out sick. I hadn't read the book yet and my computer is strait dead so I'm here and there. It was on Netflix and I was suprised to see it, I guess I thought it would still be in the theater but nope. So I was all over that. I tried to take the sexual roles out of it and have them be less aggressive sexually because they were also major gym freaks. [lifting weights, yelling, "NO LITTLE B*TCHES!"] Why? I wanted to see past that part of the crime and I really thought there had to be more to it than just a sex crime. It wasn't just that simple. Crime rarely has only one reason. More than one thing sets in motion a chain of events. Sometimes it is more than you would believe, you'd never dreamed the people living there were doing what they were being accused of.
Garrett Clayton, former Disney kid is all grown up here. Clearly his character is thinking that the rules of life don't apply to him, and making pornography is a perfectly acceptable way to live the life he wants. The escorting, the pornography and the relationship with the other people is amazing. I didn't expect him to be good and he was, really good. Franco is his usual freaked out, crazy self and Christian Slater is creepy in the role of the big cheese of the porn empire at Cobra video, Brian Kocis. With Molly Ringwald and Alicia Silverstone, make sure the kids are knocked out before this starts. Check your moral high horses at the door. Awesome film, King Cobra is streaming through Netflix and You Tube.
