What is Cyberstalking? Although no universally accepted definition exists, it is generally considered as use of the Internet, e-mail or other electronic communications device to stalk or harass a person. Stalking is defined as repeated harassing or threatening behavior.
Can cyberstalkers really be dangerous? If a stalker takes it offline and you start receiving snail mail or harassing phone calls from the stalker then they know where you live. You should contact your local law enforcement agency or the FBI immediately. When a stalker takes it "offline" they are far more likely to pose a physical threat to the individual being stalked.

Responding to CyberStalking Tell the person harassing you in straight forward terms, "Leave me alone, stop harassing me. Do not contact me again." If you are in a chat or on IM, logoff immediately and stay offline for at least 24 hours. Do not reply to anything else the harasser says. No replies to emails, taunts or lies said about you. Do NOT REPLY! Harassment is a form of power over you. If you take that power away from the harasser and refuse to "play their game" then you have become empowered instead. You are now in charge! If the problem only exists on chat or IM, go offline and completely change your online identity. This means changing your nickname and all the information you have listed in your profile. Everything must be changed! In the case of email harassment you need to contact the harasser's ISP (Internet Service Provider) and make a complaint. Stay out of problem chat rooms and forums. Don't give out your chat or IM nickname except to "very" trusted friends and tell them not to give it out to anyone else. Be certain all of your online profiles do not contain any personally identifying information about you, such as age, sex, address, phone number, school attended and teams you play on or where you work. In your IM and chat clients be sure logging is enabled, keep all log files that pertain to the stalker for evidence. Keep all e-mails that originate from the harasser or stalker and any replies you sent for evidence. If you feel you or your family is in physical danger from this stalker, or the stalker knows where you live or has made physical threats against you- call your local law enforcement agency or the FBI immediately!
Since I made a simple post at www.websleuths.com (tricia's site) on July 5, 2005, a group of Grifterneticracks have tried to make my life hell--both online and offline. They have gone to lengths you would not believe to find out who I am and where I am. They hacked my computer, attempted to use my credit card (credit card fraud), and involved an innocent college student in my neighborhood to do some of their dirty work.
Thinking they were tracking me online, they also tracked my minor grandsons. They had conversations with one of my grandsons where they groomed him for sexual activity, approaching him both as a male and a female. The FBI has the logs.
I'm seriously beginning to think they are guilty of much more than being grifterneticracks. Grifterneticrack is my term for online con and scam artists who hack computers if necessary.
What is a hacker or cracker? In the truest sense of the word, a "hacker" is a dedicated programming expert who believes in sharing his expertise and experiences with other hackers. A hacker does not believe in vandalizing or maliciously destroying data, or in stealing data of any kind.
On the other hand there is the "cracker", a cyber burglar or vandal, an individual or group intent on causing malicious harm to a network or computer, or to steal information beneficial to themselves like passwords, credit card numbers and the like.
For ease of use, the term "hacker" will be used here to refer to either a hacker or cracker, as someone who enters or tries to enter your computer or network without authorization.

Signs Your Computer May Have Been Hacked Mysterious files suddenly appearing. CD drawer opening and closing by itself Runtime errors in MS Outlook/Outlook Express.
Finding emails in your sent items folder that you didn't send.
Files moved or deleted unexpectedly. Icons on your desktop or toolbars are blank or missing.
Mouse feels sluggish, like someone else is trying to control it.
What Can I Do to Protect My Computer? Only download or accept files from reliable sources.
Use a firewall to block unauthorized access to your computer.
Install a good virus scanner program and update virus information files at least weekly.
Do not keep passwords, bank or financial account numbers, social security numbers or other personal and confidential information on your computer's hard drive. Store this type of information on removable disks (floppys or zip disks).
Why Would Anyone Hack MY Computer? There are a number of reasons why a hacker would want to "look" at your computer. He may find your credit card number stored there from buying online, or use the information gleaned from your computer to use your ISP account for illegal activity, like distributing child pornography. One of the most recent uses of Trojans is to cause DDoS (distributive denial of service) attacks. In a DDoS attack, the client commands all of the "servers" located on individual PCs to attack a single website. Thousands of individual PCs can be commanded to access a website like eBay or Yahoo at the same time, clogging the site's bandwidth and causing an interruption of service.
What kind of information can a hacker steal from me?
Personal information, names address, financial information, even the account information for your ISP and passwords, in short anything stored on your computer can be obtained by the hacker.
A Trojan may even be able to record each and every keystroke you make, save the info to a hidden file and then when you go online upload the file to the hacker's computer. This means that even if you don't keep personal info or passwords on your computer the hacker can still obtain them from the keystroke log he uploaded.

There is some really good information regarding cyberstalking at the link below. I especially like the sentence that stated it is no longer acceptable for law enforcement to tell a victim of cyberstalking to just turn off his computer.
The no-good slimey person who is cyberstalking me is truly gifted in technology, or maybe it's her husband who is, or her son. At any rate, She is so afraid of what I am going to post, that she has now managed to disable my posting at Topix.net, (Dville Forum) a free-for-all, insult slinging, grossed out sewer. She has also used her devious ways to get me Banned from Itsy's forum where the Butts case is being discussed. What does this vicious malignant stalker not want me to tell? Did she kill somebody? Or what? Talk about relentless, ongoing harrassment. It began on July 5, 2005, and continues today. She appears to be so sick she cannot stop. Please, please, if anyone here knows her, get her into therapy for her problem.
Hick, I saw your post to me at D'ville and will post my reply here. Maybe AnnaRocket will let it remain long enough for you to see it.
"Hello, Hick. Thanks for your reply. You are probably right about itsy's site. You should know better than anyone. It's been a pattern with websites suddenly crashing right after I post the truth about the grifternetihacks. Site administrators always blamed in on server problems. This same type activity happened when I posted there at Itsy's and I posted to Itsy about it. Both you and Itsy said you were having server problems It could very well be coincidental that this happened at Itsy's site. It was not coincidental at others and this has been confirmed by the only people who really understand cyberstalking, the FBI Internet Crimes Unit. Again, thanks for the reply, and Name that Tune~"

Okay, (I'll bite, just once) time to put up or shut up. What exactly are you able to post that this "stalker" is afraid you'll say? You're smart, can can post it as a hypothesis right, so go for it once and for all. Geesh, maybe once you get it off your chest all this "cyberstalking" will stop.
This vicious, vile, malicious cyberstalker, who also managed to involve a college student in my neighborhood to do some of the dirty work, is totally CRAZY. I have given all the information I have about the Natalee Holloway case to the Federal Bureau of Invesigation. That's DONE. That's BEEN done. The spaced-out stalker does not believe this, apparrently, because she and her little group THOUGHT they had prevented me from doing that by redirecting my emails and telephone calls.
Got it off my chest long ago by telling everything I knew to the FBI and some things to the GBI. The cyberstalking has increased and this stalker is making posts, using all her multiple names, saying that I am a dingbat wearing a tinfoil hat, STILL trying to discredit me. IT IS TOO LATE.
STOP STALKING ME, IDIOT. THE FBI HAS THE INFO. UNDERSTAND? STALKING ME FROM NOW ON IS JUST GETTING YOU INTO MORE TROUBLE, AS YOU CONTINUE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE EVIDENCE THAT YOU ARE CERTAINLY CYBERSTALKING ME.
LEAVE ME ALONE. AND YOU ALREADY HAVE ALL THE HYPOTHESIS YOU WILL BE GETTING FROM ME. CAN'T PUT OUT ALL THE PROOF BECAUSE THEN YOU COULD START TO BUILD A DEFENSE. PLUS MY ATTORNEY WOULD KILL MY BUTT.
I WOULD BE HAVING FUN WATCHING YOU BE SUCH A SILLY FOOL, BUT I CAN'T DO THAT, REALIZING THAT YOU MUST BE SICKER THAN I EVER THOUGHT.
GET HELP NOW. DO YOU KNOW STUCKINAHS? SHE SOUNDS LIKE AN EXPERT IN TREATING CONDITIONS SUCH AS YOURS. GOOD LUCK.
Now we're getting somewhere, So you think you're being stalked because of the Natalee Halaway case? See, I'm not afraid of the FBI or GBI(who ever that is) because I've never posted to/with you. Let them trace my post, they'll see that.
As I said, get ahold of a family member, you seriously need psychological help ASAP.
